Kona woman allegedly earned millions from fake ‘100% Kona’ coffee beans

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Kona woman is facing federal fraud charges after she allegedly sold mislabeled coffee for over a decade.

On Thursday, Sept. 25, a 26-page federal indictment said Patricia Johnson, 66, was charged with 24 counts, including:

  • 16 counts of wire fraud,
  • 5 counts of illegal monetary transactions,
  • 3 counts of obstruction of justice.

According to prosecutors, between October 2012 and April 2024, Johnson earned millions in revenue by advertising, labeling, and selling “100% Kona coffee.”

Court documents said Johnson ran Kona Coffee Cafe on Alii Drive, which has since closed, as well as an online store, and conducted sales on Amazon…
