Hundreds gather to help raise money to fight ALS

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hundreds gathered to help raise money for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in Kapiolani Park Saturday morning.

The ALS Network hosted the 13th Annual Hawaii Walk and Roll to Cure ALS to bring together the community for a family-friendly morning of exercise, education, awareness, inspiration, music, and fun to help those affected by ALS.

ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a fatal, neurodegenerative illness that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Those with ALS lose the ability to move, speak, swallow, and, eventually, breathe while their minds and senses usually continue to function…
