Kayaker caught in strong current rescued near Spitting Caves

HAWAII KAI, Hawaii (Island News) — A man was rescued while having difficulty kayaking near Spitting Caves on Saturday evening.

The Honolulu Ocean Safety Department was alerted about a distressed kayaker in the waters one mile offshore of Portlock. A man was unable to get back into his kayak because of being exhausted and stuck in a strong current.

Ocean safety personnel on a jet ski were able to spot and rescue the man just after sundown…
