Celebrating Filipino Heritage at the Filipino Community Center

The Filipino Community Center is helping Hawai‘i’s diverse community connect through culture and tradition. Executive Director Andrea Caymo-Kauhanen and Board Member Vanessa Kop shared on Living808 that the center serves as both a bridge between generations and a welcoming space for anyone interested in learning more about Filipino culture.

Located in Waipahu, the center offers a wide range of programs that include language, dance, and music classes, as well as youth and senior activities, cultural workshops, and community events such as the annual Filipino Fiesta. These programs aim to celebrate heritage while strengthening community ties across all ages.

This fall, the Filipino Community Center is hosting a lineup of special events, including Filipino for Kids on October 5, a Kulintang Workshop and Recycled Parol Making on November 2, a workshop with Philippine National Artist Ryan Cayabyab on November 4, Traditional Weaving Workshops from November 5–7, the Habi Fashion Show on November 9, and the annual Christmas celebration, Pasko sa FilCom, on December 14…
