Chef Alan Wong to return to Hawaii after five years

KAHALA, Oahu (KHON2) — Famed Hawaii chef Alan Wong is opening another restaurant and making his grand return to the Hawaiian Islands after five years.

Wong’s restaurant on South King Street closed five years ago during the pandemic. His popular Hawaii regional cuisine attracted many big-names, including former president Barack Obama.

Now Chef Wong will open a new restaurant at the Kahala Hotel.

“It’s been five years since (Chef Wong) had a presence here in Hawaii,” said The Kahala Hotel General Manager Joe Ibarra. “We want to recreate that and bring back the King Street classics here to the hotel. So you can expect the signature items that people love and crave to be on the menu when we open.”…
