The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands (DHHL) plans to request federal funds for a home reconstruction project in Waimānalo, Oʻahu. The notice, dated October 21, 2025, states that DHHL will submit a request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) around October 31, 2025. The project will use about $500,000 from the Native Hawaiian Housing Block Grant under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHASDA).
The project, called 41-252 Nakini Single Family Home Reconstruction, will rebuild a home for a Native Hawaiian family whose previous house was destroyed by fire. The site is at TMK (1) 4-1-030:027 in Koʻolaupoko, Oʻahu. The work will include removing damaged foundations and infrastructure, closing any cesspools, and building a new home of similar size on the same lot.
