‘We’re gonna feel it’: Seniors among Hawaii SNAP recipients left out of new relief program

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Applications are now being accepted for the new Hawaii Relief Program, which gives housing and utility assistance to low-income families in financial crisis who have at least one dependent child under the age of 18.

It comes as more than 85,000 households are set to lose food stamp benefits starting November 1st, and aims to offset the impacts of the federal shutdown.

But some vulnerable residents feel they’re being forgotten…
