Honolulu Hiker in His 60s Airlifted to Safety from Diamond Head Crater Trail After Medical Emergency

A hiker was rescued from the Diamond Head Crater Trail in Kahala after experiencing a medical issue, the Honolulu Fire Department reported last Wednesday. The 911 call came in at 9:53 a.m., and firefighters were dispatched to offer assistance to a male hiker in his 60s who had become too ill to make his way down the popular hiking trail. According to the HFD’s official statement, the first responders reached the scene at 10:01 a.m. to find the hiker in distress.

Once the first unit arrived, the second unit quickly secured a nearby landing zone for the incoming Air 1 helicopter. The hiker’s condition necessitated basic life support, which was administered by HFD personnel who reached his location on foot.
