DOE Superintendent salary increases as four-year contract is approved

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaii Board of Education has approved a new four-year contract for the state school Superintendent, Keith Hayashi.

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, a Human Resources Committee meeting took place, where Hayashi was met with mostly positive feedback from principals and community members who praised Hayashi’s leadership and focus on student success.

Under the new contract, Hayashi’s annual salary will increase to $294,000. He would also be eligible for a performance increase between five and eight percent each year.
