Man charged in connection with Waipahu brush fire

KUNIA (KHON2) — The suspect arrested for the brush fire that broke out in Waipahu earlier this week has been charged with fourth-degree arson.

HFD battles brush fires in Kunia, suspect arrested

On Thursday, Nov. 20, a brush fire was spotted near agricultural farmland at Farrington Highway and Kunia Road.

A witness at the scene spotted a man fleeing the scene before the fire began. Officers were able to locate the suspect, a 30-year-old male, who was arrested for Arson in the Second Degree and a Criminal Contempt Warrant without incident, HPD said.

Officials said the fire burned 7.5 acres and caused approximately $5,000 in damage…
