Ala Moana Center security guards saved Japanese tourist’s life with CPR, AED

HONOLULU (KHON) – Security guards from Ala Moana Center were recognized by the city on Dec. 3 for their quick reaction time in helping to save a life.

“We looked at each other, we all took a deep breath,” said Shaquille Isaac, one of the security guards. “Just felt amazing that we were here to save a life so it felt pretty good.”

In November, a 60-year-old visitor from Japan stopped breathing and collapsed while walking in the mall. Four security guards worked together to start CPR on the man.

They used an AED, delivering two successful shocks, to revive the man’s pulse before the Honolulu Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services arrived…
