NORTH SHORE, Oahu (KHON2) — A whole lot of people were asking “What was that?” the morning of Dec. 4 when an object was spotted falling from the sky off Oahu’s North Shore.
It turns out the reported object was a flare. According to the Coast Guard, the flare was from a C-17 Aircraft belonging to the U.S. Air Force.

A crew member from the aircraft confirmed they launched a single orange flare as part of search and rescue training.
It was not signalling any distress…
