He’s been on the Kaneohe Neighborhood Board since 2011 and enjoys every bit of it. Chair Maurice “Mo” Radke joins us on Working for Hawaii Unscripted to share what the community has been up to.
Radke said popular topics discussed include emergency preparedness and flooding. For example, maintaining and making sure drainage culverts are cleared to avoid any issues. Radke adds that residents are also concerned with the health of Kaneohe Bay.
“Kaneohe Bay is a resource that needs to be protected, and we need to keep an eye on the commercialization. We need to keep an eye on what runs off into Kaneohe Bay because it affects what happens to the reefs, to the fish. The Kaneohe Bay Regional Council did a really nice job of keeping the Sand Bar safe and helping the state do better enforcement on the Sand Bar. It’s not a free-for-all. Just because you’re not on the land, it doesn’t mean it’s time to go hog wild. It’s actually a sacred place,” he explained…
