HONOLULU (KHON2) – The City and County of Honolulu has chosen the Kobayashi Group to turn about 14 acres of city-owned land in Kapolei into a large affordable rental neighborhood.
The land sits between Wākea St. and Kamokila Blvd. and is known as Kapolei Parkway Lots 2-5. The City said the area could hold around 750 affordable rental homes once planning is complete.

This project follows the success of Parkway Village at Kapolei, the housing development right next door. That site already delivered 169 affordable units and a preschool last year, with another 236 homes and a second preschool opening soon.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi said transforming these acres in Kapolei is a huge step for families who need places to live.
Councilmember Andria Tupola explained that Kapolei has always been a place where families settle and build their lives and projects like this make it easier for them to stay.
The City will now move forward with planning, community input, environmental review and other approvals before construction begins…
