City sends property value notices to Oʻahu homeowners

HONOLULU (KHON2) – The City and County of Honolulu is mailing out about 323,000 letters to Oʻahu property owners, showing how much the city thinks your home or land is worth for the 2026-27 tax year.

Property values on Oʻahu are increasing by about 1.11%. Some types of properties rose more than others, while hotel and resort values dropped slightly.

The notice includes the property’s ID/Tax Map Key, assessed value, tax classification, exemption amount, special assessment and net taxable value. The assessed value reflects the full fee simple value of properties as of Oct. 1, 2025, based on sales of similar properties through June 30, 2025.

As part of the appeal process, if you think the city got your property value wrong, you can appeal from Dec. 15, 2025, to Jan. 15, 2026. Appeals can be turned in online, mailed or delivered in person, but they must be sent in by the deadline. There is a $50 fee to file an appeal…
