19-year-old electric motorcyclist dies after Waipahu collision; Oahu’s 81st traffic fatality of 2025

WAIPAHU, Hawaii (Island News) – A 19-year-old man who was critically injured after being struck by a car while riding an electric motorcycle in Waipahu has died from his injuries, officials confirmed.

The collision occurred on November 29, 2025, at about 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Malakeke Street and Waipahu Street. According to the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division, Vehicular Homicide Section, a 44-year-old man driving westbound on Malakeke Street entered the eastbound lane in an attempt to overtake another vehicle. In doing so, he struck the 19-year-old electric motorcyclist.

The impact ejected the rider onto the roadway. Emergency Medical Services transported him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Police noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash…
