Kaua‘i under flood advisory as heavy rainfall moves in ahead of approaching cold front

National Weather Service forecasters in Honolulu issued a flood advisory for the entire island of Kaua‘i until 1:30 a.m. because of the possibility of flooding caused by excessive rainfall.

Radar and automated rain gauges indicated at 10:17 p.m. heavy rain was developing ahead of an approaching cold front. Rain was already falling at 1 to 2 inches an hour.

Increasing rainfall trends with locally heavy showers and thunderstorms along the cold front are expected as it sweeps across the island from west to east…
