Kona resort workers walk out on one-day strike

KAILUA-KONA (HawaiiNewsNow) – More than 150 Kona resort employees walked off the job for a one-day strike Friday.

Employees at Royal Kona Resort, including housekeepers, maintenance workers, bell staff and cooks, have been working without a contract since February.

According to their union, Unite Here Local 5, workers are seeking higher wages, improved staffing levels, clearer job security language, and protections during major emergencies…
