Kapolei Intersection Chaos Leaves Two Women Badly Hurt Near Skyline Stop

Two women were seriously injured on Sunday afternoon when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Kualakai Parkway and Hoomohala Avenue in Kapolei. Paramedics treated a 69-year-old woman and a 22-year-old woman at the scene, then took both to an area hospital for further care. The crash tied up traffic in the Leeward Oʻahu neighborhood during the late-afternoon rush.

According to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said crews co-responded to the crash at about 3 p.m., provided on-scene treatment and then transported both patients for additional care. Reporter Victoria Budiono listed the victims’ ages and noted that both injuries were classified as serious. Officials did not immediately release details about what led to the collision.

How paramedics responded

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services, which handles calls across Leeward Oʻahu including Kapolei, staffs advanced life-support units and district crews that regularly co-respond to traffic incidents, according to the city’s EMS site. That district setup helps explain why multiple ambulances and a district chief often roll up on similarly timed calls in the area.

Where the crash happened

The collision happened near the Keoneʻae transit corridor, with the Skyline rail station sitting close to Kualakai Parkway and Hoomohala Avenue, a busy stretch that serves UH West Oʻahu and surrounding neighborhoods. Hawaii News Now has mapped the Skyline stations and notes that Keoneʻae serves the UH West Oʻahu area. The proximity to transit and new housing developments has increased traffic volumes along that corridor.
