HONOLULU (Island News) — The man who is accused of killing his mom at her Hawaii Kai home on Saturday morning was indicted by prosecutors in court on Friday.
Micah Auna, 29, was indicted with second-degree murder for the alleged death of his mother, Michele Hanapi-Auna, 60. Honolulu police were called to a house on Upolo Place in Hawaii Kai on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, to conduct a welfare check on Hanapi-Auna who did not show up to work.
When police entered the house, they found Hanapi-Auna’s body at the bottom of the stairs covered with towels. They discovered her body which was bleeding profusely from the head from an apparent beating.
In court on Tuesday, Dec. 23, a police officer said Auna told him his mother “molested” him and his cousin “so he pushed her.” Police arrested Auna and his cousin, Keomailani Thurston, 27, who was also at the house. Thurston was released pending further investigation…
