Hawaiʻi Island men charged for distributing illegal fireworks

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Two Hawaiʻi Island men have been arrested and charged in connection to a years-long illegal fireworks distribution project, US Attorney Ken Sorenson said on Dec. 30.

The suspects, 52-year-old Darrel Goo of Keaʻau and 45-year-old Cy Tamura of Hilo, are accused of transporting illegal fireworks into the island and other possession- and transportation-related offenses, according to the US Attorney’s Office.

Goo had an additional charge related to being a felon in possession of ammunition and firearms, officials said.
