Man caught in Waimanalo Beach rip current rescued by Ocean Safety lifeguard

HONOLULU (KHON) — A man was caught in the rip current off shore of Waimanalo Beach Park around 2:23 p.m. on Jan. 2, Honolulu Ocean Safety reported.

Officials said he was “30 yards from the beach struggling to swim in and swallowing water.”

The man was rescued by an Ocean Safety lifeguard who paddled out on a board and safely transported him to shore.

Ocean Safety said the man was transferred to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services for care…
