Tante’s Hawaiian and Filipino cuisine returns to Kona after 14-year pause

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Hawaiian and Filipino restaurant is celebrating its one-year anniversary in Kona, but its signature recipes have been decades in the making.

Tante’s Local Grindz is the brainchild of restaurateur, businessman and once-Hawaii County Mayoral candidate Tante Urban and his daughter Berni Urban-Smith. She came up with the menu for the eatery, which claims to serve the island’s only oxtail loco moco and fiery halo halo dessert.
