5,500+ without power in Kapolei, Makakilo: Hawaiian Electric

KAPOLEI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Thousands of customers in Kapolei and Makakilo are without power Sunday afternoon, Jan. 4, due to an outage.

According to Hawaiian Electric’s outage map, the power outage began at 4:42 p.m. and affected about 5,551 customers in the area. At the same time, in the Ko ‘Olina, Honokai Hale area, about 297 customers were impacted by the power outage.

As of the latest update, for customers who live between Makakilo Elementary School and Mauka Lani Elementary School, power remains out, with no estimated restoration time, HECO said.

HECO also said that those who have been impacted in the Ko ‘Olina, Honokai Hale area are expected to have restored power by 9:30 p.m…
