An early morning crossing on Farrington Highway in Maili turned deadly Sunday when a vehicle struck a 42-year-old woman, Honolulu police said. The crash happened at about 6:29 a.m. near Liliana Street. The woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. Police say the driver and his passenger stayed at the scene and were not hurt.

In a statement from the Honolulu Police Department, investigators said a 50-year-old man was driving westbound on Farrington Highway with a 46-year-old male passenger when their vehicle hit the woman as she crossed outside a marked crosswalk.
