HONOLULU (KHON2) – If you want to be healthy in 2026, AARP Hawaii is offering free monthly webinars on exercising your mind as well as your body.
Fitness, especially as you get older, is not just about physical fitness. Itʻs also about keeping your brain healthy. You have to exercise your mind as well as your body and AARP and the Global Council on Brain Health have come up with six things you can do to keep your brain healthy. AARP looked at all the latest scientific research and if you do these things, you may be able to reduce your risk of dementia and be more physically and mentally healthy. We call these the Six Pillars of brain health.

According to AARP Hawaii, the Six Pillars are engaging your brain, being social, managing stress, ongoing exercise, restorative sleep, and eating right. Engaging your brain means keeping your mind sharp by constantly learning challenging new things. Being social means forming connections with other people. Relationships with other people to keep our minds healthy by helping to offset depression and isolation.
