Satellite city halls create new payment option in efforts to go cashless

HONOLULU (KHON2) — In efforts to eventually go cashless, satellite city halls across Oʻahu are now allowing residents to pay their property taxes with a major credit card.

Starting as soon as Jan. 20, this new payment option will be available for residents when they receive their City and County of Honolulu property tax bills.

A 2.3% processing fee will be applied, as required for all other city payments made via credit card. Paying with cash or a check is the only way to avoid the processing fee. The January property tax bill will be the last cycle to pay your property taxes in cash at a satellite city hall…
