Community rallies for 6th anniversary of Diamond Head tragedy

HONOLULU (KHON2) — On the six-year anniversary of the Diamond Head tragedy, the community gathered to honor the two Honolulu police officers who were killed in the line of duty.

Friends, family and police honored Tiffany Enriquez and Kaulike Kalama with a remembrance walk around Kapiolani Park on Monday afternoon.

“It means a lot, family, friends, that’s my favorite thing, being around family,” said Kaumana Kalama, Kaulike Kalama’s son. “Being around friends, just talking to them as I was walking, trying to make me feel better knowing that there’s so many people that care and want to come out and support, yeah, it’s touching.”

“Every year the (Honolulu Police Department) and our families, the Kaulikes and my mom’s — our families come together just to walk for them, walk in their honor,” said Teiya Delgado, Tiffany Enriquez’s daughter. “It means a lot seeing everybody come out year after year. I think there’d be less of a  turnout, but come to my surprise, every time we come, people still share their stories and try to remember them the best that we can.”…
