PUPUKEA (HawaiiNewsNow) – 18-year-old Kalānōweo DeSoto proved to be a rising star after winning the DaHui Backdoor Shootout competition on Oahu’s North Shore.
DeSoto, a Makaha native, is the youngest champion in event history to win the prestigious honor. He clinched the top rank at the popular surf spot Pipeline earlier this week.
