HONOLULU (CN) — Thursday’s courtroom battle wasn’t about what happened on a scenic Oahu cliff last March when Dr. Gerhardt Konig was arrested on suspicion of attempting to kill his wife — it was about what may have happened more than a decade ago, and whether the public has a right to know about it.
Oahu First Circuit Judge Paul Wong concluded, for the most part, that Konig didn’t have a right to keep his ex-wife’s court filing containing misconduct accusations from 2009 to 2014 a secret. He rejected defense attorney Thomas Otake’s emergency motion to keep it permanently sealed.
Wong did agree to keep three specific paragraphs temporarily sealed while he considers whether they should remain hidden until after a jury is selected. The passages contain what the court described as the most salacious claims…
