Injured boater rescued from Ala Wai Harbor waters after hit by boat

HONOLULU (Island News) — A 70-year-old man was rescued offshore of the Ala Wai Harbor on Thursday morning after he was hit by a boat while he was in the water.

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to a 911 call that came in at 7:08 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, about a distressed boater who was approximately 100 yards outside of Ala Wai Harbor.

The caller reported that a boater, later identified as a 70-year-old man, was paddling back to shore after he was struck by a larger vessel while he was on a small inflatable boat. According to first responders, the boater lost balance, struck his head and injured it…
