Crummy conditions plague Oahu park, garden
“I had a big tub of green onions before they stole that. I had a chili pepper plant. I had rosemary over here. I had ceramic pots here, and they stole them,” said Debbie Kim, who has a small unit at the garden. “They stole the other lock here, now I have three locks on the garden.”
Kim walked us through what was stolen from her plot sometime Tuesday night. Most of it she already replanted, but the frustration is still fresh.
“Food is expensive, so they grow their own fruits and vegetables in our gardens. But it’s also a place to go which we should feel safe and be able to have a hobby,” said Kim, who said she spent more than a thousand dollars to install fencing to cover her unit to keep thieves from climbing over the fence and stealing her produce…
