Dog attack leaves 11 sheep dead in West Oahu

WAIANAE, Hawaii (KHON2) — A devastating dog attack at Ka’ala Farm in Waianae has decimated the farm’s sheep flock and dealt a major blow to wildfire prevention efforts.

Police are now investigating the incident, which happened early on Sunday, Feb. 8, when an unrestrained dog dug under a fenced enclosure at Ka’ala Farm and attacked multiple sheep.

Farm security intervened and neutralized the dog to stop the assault, but the damage was done — 11 sheep were killed, most during the attack, and a couple of others later died from injuries.

“Nine and then two died later. So, that’s pretty much almost three-quarters of our herd that we’ve been building up our fire, fire remediation efforts,” said Ka’ala Farms executive director Eric Enos…
