20th annual Tooth Fairy Fun Day brings smiles to Kakaako

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A popular community event returned to Kakaʻako as the 20th annual Tooth Fairy Fun Day welcomed families to the Children’s Discovery Center.

Hawaiʻi ranks 1st for elderly adults without natural teeth, other dental facts

Hosted by Hawaii Dental Service, the event focused on teaching keiki the importance of brushing, flossing and visiting the dentist regularly. On Sunday, Feb. 15, children took part in games and activities while also receiving free dental screenings.

Dr. Diane Paloma, president and CEO of Hawaii Dental Service, said the goal over the past two decades has been to reinforce healthy habits early.

Organizers say events like this help children overcome fears about visiting the dentist while making oral health education engaging and accessible.

In honor of the milestone 20th year, Hawaii Dental Service also donated $20,000 to the Children’s Discovery Center to continue supporting programs for local families…
