HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s not the first time this former lawmaker and deputy prosecutor has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Former deputy prosecutor Karamatsu found guilty of second DUI
According to HPD, the latest arrest of Jon Riki Karamatsu happened just after 10 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 16, in Kalihi near the H-1 onramp.
The 51-year-old lawyer and business owner was arrested in 2007 during his term in the State House after a crash on the Moanalua Freeway and again in 2015 in Waikiki.
“Unfortunately, what happens is that oftentimes people who have been convicted once for DUI offend more than once,” Legal Analyst Doug Chin said…
