A ti leaf farmer’s 17,000 plant journey begins with call for kokua

PUNALU’U (HawaiiNewsNow) – In the Punalu’u valley, a number of agricultural lots can be found. One in particular doesn’t look like much now, but a local farmer has big plans for the area.

Aunty Jarnell Haukoloa showed us the lot.

“This section here specifically is gonna be the community garden. This is the ‘Sharing is Caring’ area. And then on that side, is gonna be like an acre of ti leaves. We’re gonna have all ti leaves over there,” she said, pointing out the area…
