Honolulu Fire Department investigates accidental Kalihi blaze

KALIHI, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department has determined that a residential fire in Kalihi earlier this week was accidental, officials said.

Fire investigators say the Feb. 20 blaze at a home on Wilson Street was caused by a cooking grill inside one of the bedrooms. HFD noted that the house was used as a frequent hangout spot for teenagers. Damages are estimated at $386,000 to the structure and $0 to its contents.

Honolulu firefighters extinguish Kalihi abandoned house fire

HFD received the 911 call just after 1:30 p.m. Friday and arrived to find smoke billowing from the building.

The fire was brought under control at 1:26 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:12 p.m. No injuries were reported…
