HONOLULU (Island News) – The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Transportation Services (DTS) announced upcoming modifications for TheBus starting on March 1, 2026.
The following are the routes that will be modified:
- A Line (Ahua – UH Manoa):
- Eastbound trips during the AM/PM peaks will start 5 minutes earlier to reduce transfer time from Skyline.
- Westbound trips will not change.
- U Line (Ahua – UH Manoa via H-1 Fwy):
- Frequency for both eastbound and westbound departure times will be increased to 40 minutes.
- Route PH8 (Makalapa – Naval Shipyard):
- Additional trips will be added at 2:40 p.m.
- Route 23 (Kahala – Sea Life Park):
- 6:21 a.m. westbound trip will shift 5 minutes earlier, and will start at 6:16 a.m. to accommodate transfers to Route 2L at Kahala Mall.
- Route 40 (Honolulu – Makaha):
- Daily service to Keone’ae UH West Oahu Station will be extended to 12 a.m.
- Will provide additional night service to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport between 10:30 p.m. – 3:45 a.m.
- Route 433 (Waipahu – Waikele Shopping Center):
- Weekdays:
- 7 a.m. trip will be extended to serve Waipi’o.
- Saturdays:
- No changes.
- Sundays:
- New service to Waipi’o between 8:15 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
- Routing will copy Weekday and Saturday service to Waipi’o.
- Frequency will be updated to 60 minutes.
- Span of service between Waipahu Transit Center – Waikele will remain 5 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.
