Honolulu police have launched a murder investigation after a late-morning shooting in Kapolei left a man in his 20s dead and a teenage girl hospitalized. Gunfire was reported around 11:30 a.m. Friday on Puanohu Place, drawing Emergency Medical Services crews and officers, who shut down the area to the public while they worked the scene.
According to Hawaii News Now, officers found the man at the scene, and the teenage girl was treated and taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. Hawaii News Now reports that police confirmed a suspect is in custody and that the public was asked to avoid the area while the murder investigation continues. Officials had not released the suspect’s identity or a possible motive as of the outlet’s report.
