HONOLULU (KHON2) — After getting emergency approval, Honolulu city crews are working to clear stream mouths around the island. Some residents are also doing what they can to be prepared – especially after getting flooded just a couple of weeks ago.
Storm prep equipment going fast, homeowners advised to prepare
City crews work to clear several streambeds to make sure the waterways can flow freely for the impending storm. Crews cleared the Ulehawa Stream in Nanakuli and near Pokai Bay in Waianae and worked their way to the east side.
At Otake Camp in Waialua, residents are keeping a close eye on Kaukonahua stream, which runs right next to their homes.
