Storm prep equipment going fast, homeowners advised to prepare

HONOLULU (KHON2) — With utility services and roadways busy preparing ahead of the coming weather, residents and homeowners are also being advised to do the same, especially if it begins to flood.

“To prevent water damage on your property, it’s important if you can do this to clear the gutters,” said Dennis Hwang, Hawaii Sea Grant Homeowners Handbook lead author. “Water should be able to flow off the roof of your house; you should clear the drains and blockages on your property.”

City Mill merchants at the Honolulu location on Nimitz brought some of their storm-preparation equipment to the front of the store, where they said items like tarps sold out in just a few hours.

But they said you can still find supplies in other locations across the island, and that there are still a few key items anyone can grab before the rain hits…
