Closures and cancellations in Hawaii for incoming severe storm

HONOLULU (Island News) — Ahead of the kona low storm expected to last through the weekend, closures and cancellations across the state have been announced due to the severe weather conditions.

Several dangerous weather conditions are expected across the state from the storm starting Tuesday, March 10, 2026, possibly lasting until Sunday, March 15. The inclement weather includes flash flooding, strong southerly winds and severe thunderstorms.

All camping areas on Oahu, Maui and Molokai will be closed starting on Wednesday, March 11, until further notice, the Department of Land and Natural Resources announced.

Kauai

  • Polihale State Park is closed for both day and overnight use, as of Monday, March 9, at 3 p.m.
  • Kalalau Trail is closed until further notice, as of Monday, March 9, at 3 p.m.
  • Camping at Kokee State Park will be suspended starting Tuesday, March 10, at 11 a.m. until further notice.

Oahu

Overnight camping at all City and County of Honolulu campgrounds will be suspended beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, until Sunday, March 15…
