HONOLULU (KHON2) — In an afternoon update, Hawaiian Electric said crews have begun assessments of some circuits that were ‘proactively turned off’ due to flooding on Oahu’s North Shore.
HECO crews will first assess the Waialua Substation, which provides power through and beyond the evacuation zone.
Once the substation is cleared, power lines that deliver electricity from the substation to the Waimea, Kuilima/Turtle Bay and Kawailoa areas, which are outside the evacuation zone, will also need to pass a safety inspection before being reenergized…
