Manoa roads turn to rivers amid torrential Hawaii floods

MANOA, Hawaii (KHON2) — Manoa residents saw more than the usual Manoa mist that they are accustomed to on Monday, March 23.

Officials acknowledge mixed messages on Wahiawa Dam risk

“At first it just looked like a little bit of water coming through the parking lot, and then all of a sudden, we looked on Woodlawn Drive, it’s just cars couldn’t get by, and it was like a river running through the campus,” said Noelani Elementary School principal Bryan Gusman. “Luckily, all the kids, we had passed lunch and recess and all that, all the kids were in the classes, so everybody was safe.”

Honolulu police helped manage the traffic as parents were picking up their children at Hokulani Elementary School — both Hokulani and Noelani will be closed on Tuesday, March 24.

Others said Woodlawn Drive practically became Woodlawn river…
