On March 26, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to a 911 call about a hiker in distress on the Lēʻahi (Diamond Head Crater) Trail in Kahala. Six HFD units with 18 personnel were dispatched. Firefighters reached the woman, who was in her 50s and had suffered a medical emergency, provided basic life support, and prepared her for an airlift. She was safely flown to a nearby landing zone and transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 1:32 p.m. No injuries were reported among responders.
