North shore residents recount heroic rescues during the flood

WAIALUA, Hawaii (KHON2) — There were dozens and dozens of North Shore residents who woke up early on March 20 to chaos, with water at their doors or phone calls for help. And they quickly acted.

Louis Bruski lives near Otake Camp and was woken up by his other half around 1 a.m. She told him something was wrong. He quickly ran down to Otake Camp and saw that a house had already been washed away to the bridge.

He then got a call from a friend who needed help by long bridge. At the same time, Ryan Wilson, a Waialua resident, said he grabbed his brother’s loader and headed towards the chaos near long bridge…
