Makiki Argument Turns Deadly In Fatal Stabbing As Cops Nab Suspect

A 46-year-old man is dead after a stabbing in Honolulu’s Makiki neighborhood on Monday, and police say the suspected attacker is already in custody as detectives press ahead with a homicide investigation.

According to Honolulu police, officers with the District 1 Crime Reduction Unit tracked down and arrested the person believed to be responsible soon after the incident. Detectives say the victim had been arguing with his 23-year-old girlfriend before he was stabbed, and the case remains active.

What police say

In a post to Honolulu Police, investigators said the 46-year-old man was stabbed multiple times and later died. The department said District 1 Crime Reduction Unit officers made the arrest in the Makiki area.

Honolulu police classified the case as murder in the second degree and said they will seek charges with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney. Detectives have not released additional details about the suspect or the argument and say the investigation is ongoing.
