HONOLULU (Island News) — The deadline is approaching for residents who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to get reimbursed for food purchased with SNAP that was lost during the second Kona low storm.
The Hawaii Department of Human Services reminds SNAP recipients who experienced food loss during the severe weather from the recent storm, caused by circumstances that include extend ed power outages or flooding, are able to get SNAP replacement benefits. Requests for SNAP replacement can be made until Thursday, April 9, 2026. Eligible households can get reimbursed for food purchased with SNAP that was destroyed.
