A late-night armed robbery at Sunset Beach early Tuesday has rattled the North Shore, leaving a 48-year-old man shaken but with only minor injuries and Honolulu police still looking for a second suspect.
Police say two men approached the victim near the park restroom at about 1:30 a.m. One man displayed a handgun while the other assaulted the victim and took his property. Officers responding to the scene quickly located a suspect nearby, arrested a 48-year-old man, and recovered the victim’s belongings. The second suspect took off and has not been found.

According to Hawaii News Now, officers arrested the 48-year-old man on suspicion of first-degree robbery following the early-morning attack. The outlet reports the victim declined medical treatment at the scene and suffered only minor injuries. Authorities have not released the arrested man’s name in this initial phase of the investigation.

Per the Honolulu Police Department, anyone with information is urged to call 911 or CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300. Detectives from District 2, which covers Oʻahu’s North Shore, are leading the case and canvassing the area for witnesses and surveillance footage. People who were at the park early Tuesday are being asked to check any personal video and contact investigators if they see anything that might help.
