Honolulu mayor thanks New York firefighters for disaster recovery help

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Mayor Rick Blangiardi thanked the New York City Fire Department for their help during the ongoing disaster recovery following the recent Kona low storms.

During a ceremony Saturday in his office, Blangiardi handed out small gifts and lei to the 14-member FDNY All-Hazards Incident Management Team.

“Their willingness to fly across the country and half of the Pacific is a testament to the best of humanity,” said Blangiardi. “These proud New Yorkers are the embodiment of what we call the aloha spirit.”…
